QUETTA: As many as 10 domestic tourists, some lawyers among them, got stuck on Astola Island, a popular travel spot in Balochistan as they went there to celebrate New Year's eve.

"The holidaymakers went to celebrate New Year's Eve on the island on December 31," said Additional Deputy Commissioner Gwadar. "We have received a report that more than 10 people are stranded on the island," he said.

As per initial reports received by authorities, the tourists stuck on the island include some lawyers as well.

The rough sea made it impossible for the stranded persons to reach the nearby city of Pasni. The additional deputy commissioner said it was not possible to reach the location owing to the strong breeze and the rough sea.

Before embarking on the trip, the holidaymakers did not obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from relevant authorities, said the commissioner.
