Experts liken Babar Azam to India’s Kohli, New Zealand’s Williamson
KARACHI: Sports experts have likened Babar Azam to India’s Virat Kohli and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson because if there’s any Pakistani cricketer who can be compared to the two legends, it's him.Azam, who has previously been compared to Kohli and Williamson as well, is proud of it but also eager to justify it. The 25-year-old batter told media here in Karachi that every time he was there in middle, his target was to give his best to Pakistan.Noting that he was "proud to be named among likes of Kohli or Williamson", he added: "I will try to justify this comparison by giving my best every time I am in ground, like they do when they are in middle."The cricketer also aims to be even better than them. "Consistency is important, and for that it is important to work hard," he said."I just believe on myself and my hard work. Whenever I’m there in middle, I try to take maximum out of the opportunity."Belief and confidence comes with hard work — and I believe in hard work — on and off the field," he added. When a journalist pointed towards the comparison of his cover-drive with Kohli’s cover drive, the Pakistani cricketer humbly termed the Indian player's cover drive to be better than his. "Virat’s cover drive is better than mine and I am being truthful about it," he said. "His reliance of front foot is very controlled and I am still trying to get control on my front foot while playing cover drive."Azam added that Pakistan was confident of winning the Test match against Sri Lanka, scheduled to be held in Karachi later this week."We are aware of the conditions here and we’ll give our best at National Stadium from Thursday, I am hopeful of good results here," Babar stated.
